About Alex White

I was raised in San Francisco, California but reside in sunny Naples, Florida.  My passion for photography has taken me to many states and countries abroad. If you don't find me taking photographs or teaching  others how to master their camera, you'll find me traveling to find new beautiful places to capture or down at the beach reading a good book and enjoying the Florida sun.

While digital photography is the standard today, I started with a classic, manual, film camera. It taught me some of the most important lessons on becoming a photographer. In today's world of digital photography its easy to forgot about  the details and just point and shoot until eventually lighting strikes, that's why I recommend any new photographer to start with film photography, learn to see the picture in the minds eye before it shows up on the camera screen. 

I'm always learning and adapting new techniques to create photographs that make you want travel back in time and relive the captured moment.

People often ask me, what makes a great photograph?

While art is subjective topic, but I believe a "great" photo should represent you at your very best, natural, real and raw. Whether it's taking a walk in Central Park, or relaxing on the beach in Miami, a photograph has to be true to only one person, YOU.
